Quick & Dirty Auxiliary Power

Big Power in Little Time

Remember that huge GMC 2500 Denali built by my good friends Billy and Trena? We hatched this “quick & dirty” power system for them while they were out west and struggling to keep their Jackery charged during the extended travels.
So we whipped up this very simple auxiliary power system. This auxiliary power kit centers around a Battleborn 100AH lithium battery, Red Arc DC-to-DC charger (with MPPT solar charger), Blue Sea power kit with voltmeter, USB ports, and a 12V accessory plug for their fridge. Watch the video segment below to see how it all fit together.

Battle Born 100AH Lithium Battery

Red Arc 25 Amp DC-to-DC and Solar Charge Controller

Blue Sea USB, 12V, Voltmeter Combo

Battery and Junction Box

Blue Sea 6 Circuit Fuse Block

Blue Sea is the gold standard when it comes to marine grade electrical components. We’ve gone with the 6 circuit fuse block with dedicated ground bars to make terminations easy.

Welding Cable

Not all welding cable is built the same. This particular brand has been the best we’ve used to date. Available in different lengths too. Route this from your factory system to the battery location.

Red Arc 40A Inline Fuse Kit

Installed at the factory electrical system connection point.

Trailering Your Adventure?

We didn’t get to cover this little find yet but it seems to be the perfect plug for making Anderson connections to trailers SUPER easy and protected from the mud when not in use. I’ll end up putting one of these as outputs on all the rigs and one as an input to the trailer too. (no dangling cables when not in use)

Adventure with “Sherman”

This truck is an absolute tank! Ride along or skip to the end to watch the battery kit install.
